Gianluca Scamacca’s debut season at West Ham United hasn’t gone well as he struggled with form and fitness. He’s managed three league goals and is currently sidelined with an injury.
Several reports have stated the former Sassuolo man will return to the Serie A side in the next window, and Salernitana could be an option for the 24-year-old forward, according to InterLive.it.
This is mentioned when the report explains Inter Milan and West Ham’s interest in Boulaye Dia, who is on loan at Salernitana from Villarreal.
The Serie A side have a €12m buying option, which they will exercise, after the 26-year-old Senegal international managed 16 goals and two assists this season.
It’s explained that the Hammers’ interest in the forward is ‘disheartening news’ for Inter chief Giuseppe Marotta, because Salernitana, after making Dia’s stay permanent, ‘could end up proposing’ him in an exchange deal involving Scamacca.
Salernitana chief Danilo Iervolino’s idea would be to take the Italy international on loan with the right of redemption and allow Dia to move to West Ham.
Although Scamacca is ‘now very close to leaving’ David Moyes’ side, he would rather avoid joining a club like Salernitana, which may potentially stop an exchange deal involving him and Dia from going through.
