Late last week, it became apparent that West Ham United were still interested in Koni De Winter, currently contracted to Juventus but on loan at Empoli.
It was stated the Hammers were ready to spend some money to get him in the summer, while Southampton had seen a bid refused.
That left Crystal Palace as one of the teams previously mentioned as interested without an update on their stance, but Tutto Juve provide that on Tuesday.
It’s made clear that West Ham are still very much keen on the player, but the Eagles, now managed by Roy Hodgson, have ‘slowed down’.
Whether that has something to do with the veteran manager taking over from Patrick Vieira at Crystal Palace isn’t made clear, but it appears the Selhurst Park residents are no longer as keen on the Belgian centre-back as they once were.
That’s good news for West Ham in their own pursuit, as that means less Premier League competition, but the article does point out the group of suitors is growing, as Monza and Sassuolo have joined the fray.
As for Crystal Palace, a lot of their summer business could depend on whether Hodgson decides to stay a bit longer, but as things stand, De Winter doesn’t seem to be on their shopping list.
