Last week, we covered reports from the Brazilian media which said West Ham United were in talks for Athletico Paranaense star Vitor Roque.
It was claimed by journalist Venê Casagrande that the Hammers wanted the youngster signed on a loan deal which would include an obligatory buying clause worth as much as €20m.
That €20m is including bonuses, so the base fee will obviously be lower.
But West Ham’s offer is for only half what Athletico Paranaense demand for the player, according to UOL.
The outlet today features a piece that says the club, ‘in backstage’, value the youngster at around €40m. That’s how much they’ve been telling the interested clubs, with the Hammers included.
UOL brings some different information regarding West Ham’s offer, claiming they arrived with a bid worth €14m, and Athletico ‘didn’t even consider’ that.
Their report also points out that Vitor Roque is ‘closely followed’ by other European sides such as Barcelona, Paris Saint Germain and Real Madrid.
The player is protected by a €100m release clause, and even if sold now, he’d only be able to move next summer, since he turns 18 in February.
