Brentford, Newcastle United and West Ham United are all in the race for Strasbourg striker Habib Diallo, according to reports today.
It’s French journalist Ignazio Genuardi who, on Twitter, features an update on the 28-year-old’s situation, claiming he’s targeted by ‘several’ Premier League clubs.
It’s said that besides the interest from Brentford, Newcastle and West Ham, there’s also a ‘track’ for him in the Serie A, where AS Roma are looking for a centre-forward and have him on their shortlist.
The report just doesn’t say how much it’d take to sign Diallo from Strasbourg, as he’s committed to the French club with a contract until 2025.
The interesting thing is that Roma still have West Ham’s Gianluca Scamacca as their ‘favourite’, so one transfer could end up affecting the other here.
Diallo recently reached his peak value on Transfermarkt, with the website currently giving him a price of €18m. Last season, he had 20 goals in 37 league appearances for Strasbourg.
We shall now wait and see if Brentford and Newcastle will bid for him, and how Scamacca’s potential departure could affect West Ham’s plans.
