West Ham United continue scouting in Portugal, and as reported by A Bola today, they were present at the Europa League clash between Vitória Guimarães and RB Salzburg.
This is the second time the Hammers have scouted the Northern Portuguese side this season, as there were club emissaries watching Vitória’s league game against Sporting as well.
At that time, West Ham’s visit looked related to William Carvalho’s transfer, although it’s possible that a Vitória player could have impressed too.
This time there wasn’t much to see for West Ham, as Vitória had a poor match and were criticised by the own local media. A 1-1 home draw wasn’t exactly the way they expected to start the tournament.
A lack of creativity from Vitória is exactly why none of the attacking players were highlighted by the newspapers, and only defender Pedro Henrique, who scored the opener, and midfielder Wakaso were praised.
That’s the opposite of what happened to Salzburg.
Amadou Haidara and Munas Dabur received great ratings from the local outlets, although it was Valon Berisha who was most praised for scoring the equaliser.
