West Ham United may need to worry as managerial target Sergio Conceição could now be targeted by Nantes.
That’s according to Ouest France, who report that the French club, in particular president Waldemar Kita, has ‘decided to bring back Sergio Conceição’.
The Portuguese coach spent half a season with the Canaries between 2016 and 2017, and Kita is now keen to bring him back to the club for a second rescue mission. ‘Advanced discussions’ have been taking place for him to take over from Antoine Kombouaré if the club’s situation doesn’t resolve.
Talks have reportedly been underway with Conceição for weeks, with the Portuguese coach available on a free after leaving Porto.
That’s potentially bad news for West Ham, who may want to make some inquiries of their own before the opportunity is taken away from them.
A report in England had linked them with a move for Conceição as Julen Lopetegui continues to dangle on the edge at the London Stadium.
But he now appears to be the number one for Nantes if they decided to sack Kombouaré, who currently has them 17th in the table.
Given talks have been ongoing and are now advanced, that decision may have already been made and West Ham should probably get a move on if they are keen or risk missing out entirely.
