West Ham United may need to pay as much as €20-25m if they wish to sign Werder Bremen striker Niclas Füllkrug this summer.
That’s according to BILD, who say that is the value placed on the forward as Bremen chief Clemens Fritz admits they do have a “pain threshold” for their star man.
Füllkrug has been in superb form this season, scoring 15 and assisting six in 27 games, his best ever tally in a Bundesliga season.
That’s seen him linked with a move away as a result and West Ham were named among his suitors in the middle of last month.
At that point it was stated he would cost around €15m and Werder could be convinced to sell as they need to raise funds to ease financial problems at the club.
BILD, though, now say that figure may have risen, with their estimate for a sale now being at €20-25m instead.
That’s bad news for West Ham given it’s a €10m increase but it seems they will find the Bundesliga club willing to sell if their offer is right.
BILD also have comments from Clemens Fritz, Bremen’s ‘head of the licensing department’ who insists they will consider bids if they think they’re fair.
“Of course, there is a pain threshold. And if that’s not achieved, we won’t think about selling him,” he said.
“But if an economically good offer comes along, then we have to deal with it. But we don’t have to accept everything that’s on the table. That’s for sure.”
