VfL Wolfsburg have seen an attempt to sign West Ham United defender Nayef Aguerd rejected by the player.
That’s according to Fussball Transfers, who report that the Moroccan wasn’t keen on joining the German side.
They report that Wolfsburg wanted to lure a defender from the Premier League as they look to strengthen before the end of the transfer window.
They tried their luck with Aguerd, who appears to be out of favour at West Ham, but the 28-year-old declined the move.
The belief is that he is open to a move away from the London Stadium this summer after finding himself pushed down the pecking order this summer. It seems he was not interested in heading to Germany to join Wolfsburg, however.
The question is where Aguerd would want to move should he leave. The reality is that he is deep down the list under Julen Lopetegui after the arrivals of Jean-Clair Todibo and Max Kilman.
That’s left West Ham with Todibo, Aguerd, Kilman, Kurt Zouma and Konstantinos Mavropanos on their books so it’s likely that one or more will be departing before the end of the window.
It just won’t be Aguerd going to Wolfsburg, who tried their luck and were turned down pretty quickly when they did.
