West Ham United midfielder Pablo Fornals ‘could bring forward’ a move to Sevilla to the January transfer window if their poor start to the season continues.
That’s according to El Sevillista, who say the Spanish club’s leadership are already thinking about the winter window and ways to ensure they get into Europe.
They explain that Sevilla’s start to the season has not been as expected, leading to worries that they’re in for another disappointing campaign and a place outside of Europe.
That would be disastrous for a side reliant on the money from qualifying and so those in charge are ‘already looking to the winter market’ and trying to anticipate potential moves.
One player they have their eye on is West Ham’s Pablo Fornals, who they were interested in during the summer but couldn’t do a deal for as the Hammers asking price was too high.
He’s now in the final months of his contract at the London Stadium and Sevilla could use that to ‘accelerate his arrival’ in January.
That would be dependent on West Ham being willing to let him go for a ‘negligible amount’, but the hope is that they will do so as it would allow them to ‘get some profitability’ and avoid losing him on a free transfer in the summer.
Given the potentially biased source we’ll have to take this with a pinch of salt, but Sevilla were linked with Fornals throughout the summer, and he is playing less at West Ham this season thanks to their big summer spend and the fact they kept Lucas Paqueta.
Couple that with Sevilla’s poor start and it’s a deal which would make sense, so we’ll keep an eye on things ahead of January.
