Tuesday evening’s 3-1 defeat to Leicester City may have been another miserable moment for West Ham United, but there was at least one positive, the return of Mohammed Kudus.

That’s according to Bram van Polen and Marciano Vink, who were keen to praise the West Ham star on ESPN’s Voetbalpraat, via Soccer News.

West Ham suffered their seventh defeat of the season to Leicester last night, with goals from Jamie Vardy, Bilal El Khannouss and Patson Daka handing Ruud van Nistelrooy a win on his debut for the Foxes.

It was a miserable evening for the Hammers, who never really in the game and had to content themselves with a 93rd minute consolation from Niclas Füllkrug.

There was very little positive to get from the game, which piled more pressure on manager Julen Lopetegui after a difficult start to the campaign.

Kudus’ return was one positive, though, as he came back into the time following a five-game absence following his sending off in the 4-1 defeat to Tottenham midway through October.

He’s been sorely missed in that time as West Ham have beaten Manchester United and Newcastle but lost 3-0 to Nottingham Forest, 5-2 to Arsenal and drew with Everton.

He couldn’t turn things around in the 3-1 win to Leicester but Van Polen and Vink were impressed by what they saw, nonetheless.

“I thought Kudus was brilliant, especially in the first half. There is so much quality in him,” said the former.

“So easy when he turns away… And such an acceleration in the first few meters… Really impressive.”

“I think that players who think less about consequences, who are open-minded and who don’t care about the consequences, are the special players,” added Vink.

“In his first year at West Ham United he was simply sensational. The whole Premier League was talking about him. It was immediately discussed whether he should go three steps higher. And now he’s showing things again… That’s Kudus to the core. Those kind of guys have a kind of haze, they just do their own thing.”
