West Ham United risk losing Crysencio Summerville this summer, after their relegation from the Premier League.

The Dutchman is attracting interest from several clubs, and the Hammers could sanction a move as his sale seems inevitable.

Faced with the possibility of losing the winger, West Ham are already working on signing a new attacker.

West Ham initiate contact

Nuno Espírito Santo’s side have identified Sevilla’s Rubén Vargas as an attacking target, according to Orgullo Biri.

Last season, the Switzerland international managed three goals and six assists from 25 matches. He has two goals and an assist from four World Cup matches, and this has only increased interest.

Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Trabzonspor have also shown interest, but West Ham United are the first to initiate contact to find about his situation.

The outlet claims the Andalusian club are in no rush to sell. That may not be the case because of their economic conditions. However, they are willing to consider selling him if there are offers around €15-20m.

The price could rise further if he extends his impressive run at the World Cup. The 27-year-old’s sale can help them raise funds, and that’s needed to reshape their squad.

West Ham must convince player

Orgullo Biri states: ‘The possibility of a departure is real’. However, further advances will depend on the Championship side’s offer.

West Ham United have made a move and must offer over €15m to convince Sevilla. Even then, it won’t be easy to complete the operation.

Rubén Vargas is prioritising both the financial aspect and the sporting project. The London club could convince with a competitive salary but not sporting wise.

The Swiss wants to join a Champions League side, and the Hammers can’t offer it at least for the next two seasons. This could be key to his final decision, should the player decide to change clubs this summer.

Therefore, the Hammers have to convince him to pick their project, to stand a chance. That looks a difficult prospect.

With a contract expiring in 2029, Transfermarkt now value Vargas at €12m.
