Earlier today, we covered a Gazzetta dello Sport article about West Ham’s apparent pursuit of Edin Dzeko, as the Hammers continue to search for a striker.

Unable to find the right man since selling Sébastien Haller to Ajax Amsterdam, the club have hit stumbling blocks in most negotiations, and the same applies for the Bosnian.

Wanting to play for ‘first-tier’ teams, the veteran is looking for a way out from AS Roma after falling out with Paulo Fonseca, and is being rather choosy about his options for the time being.

We say that because Corriere dello Sport do provide a thimble of hope on Tuesday, explaining the ‘only concrete offer’ made for his services so far has come from West Ham.

And while the player has said ‘no’, he has only done so ‘at least for now’.

It’s that ‘at least for now’ that seems to suggest he could change his mind, perhaps if the situation with Fonseca worsens or his options start to dry up.

One to keep an eye on over the coming week, because things can happen very quickly in football.
