West Ham United have ‘identified’ Borussia Dortmund left-back Raphaël Guerreiro as an option for January as they look to improve in the position.
That’s according to Jeunes Footeux, who say the Hammers could make ‘a few changes’ in the next window to bounce back from a disappointing start to the season.
They want to quickly turn things around after initially targeting European football this season and a left-back ‘is being targeted’.
West Ham have ‘identified’ Guerreiro as an option and ‘would like to recruit’ the Portugal international in January and take advantage of his contract situation.
His current deal with Borussia Dortmund expires in the summer so he is able to negotiate a free transfer in the summer from January 1st onwards.
West Ham, however, don’t want to wait for him and are instead looking for deal to take place in the winter window.
That would require an agreement with Borussia Dortmund and a transfer fee being paid, although it would likely only be a small one given the Portugal full back is out of contract next year.
Either way, the interest is there and Guerreiro is a name to keep an eye on as West Ham seemingly look to improve their squad in January.
