Currently in limbo regarding their ownership and who may or may not leave the club, Marseille fans are facing a very nerve-wracking summer.
With Michy Batshuayi, Nicolas N’Koulou and Steve Mandanda all 95% certain to be leaving the club in the coming months, the Ligue 1 club could also lose their star left-back.
Very close to signing Henri Bedimo on a free from Lyon, Marseille are seemingly preparing for an exit from their 21-year-old defender Benjamin Mendy.
Joining from Le Havre back in 2013, the young defender quickly settled in as a key member of the team, and was seen prior to the summer as one of Marseille’s more valuable assets.
Trying to balance the books, the club is prepared to sell him, and Nabil Djellit, a journalist for France Football among others, posted on Twitter late Sunday night two options the youngster currently has at his disposal.
He wrote: “Bedimo is going to sign for OM. Mendy should very quickly leave for Leicester, West Ham or ?”
With Aaron Cresswell the clear starter for Slaven Bilic for the Hammers, we’d be inclined to say that a move to the Premier League champions is more likely.
Then again, Christian Fuchs was great under Claudio Ranieri last season.
Bedimo’s signing is indeed an indication Mendy is likely to leave, but his destination isn’t clear just yet.
