Over the course of the past year, Leeds United and Noa Lang have been a combination that refuses to go away.
The Elland Road side wanted him under Marcelo Bielsa, but never managed to find an agreement with either him or Club Brugge, and they are now joined by another Premier League team in West Ham United.
That the Hammers need some new players to stop their poor run of form after the World Cup isn’t a surprise to anyone, and a new forward could do them the world of good.
Whether Noa Lang is the answer to their problems remains to be seen, but Corriere dello Sport, looking at Milan’s interest in the Dutchman, claim they are looking at him.
They state the 23-year-old is ‘determined to relaunch after a disappointing start to the season’ in Qatar, and it’s made clear ‘there is no shortage of competition, represented by West Ham and Leeds’.
This comes as the player recently told Het Laatste Nieuws in Belgium, relayed by Soccer News, that he was approached by Qatari clubs.
He said: “I’m way too young to play there. I’m only going to Qatar for the World Cup.”
Asked about interest from European sides, he said: “Things like that don’t come out easily, but people should know. A new club should feel perfect, and it wasn’t. At Club Brugge, I know what I have, I’m not just going to leave that behind.”
It therefore seems that West Ham and Leeds, should they want to sign Lang, need to make the transfer feel like the right one for him, which hasn’t been the case so far.
Perhaps in January? We’ll have to wait and see.
