Looking for a director of football, West Ham United reportedly lead the race for AS Roma chief Tiago Pinto.
The news comes from Portugal, where Mais Futebol has many details about the Hammers’ pursuit of the 35-year-old.
It’s claimed that West Ham look to ‘reinforce’ their structure by ‘creating’ a position of director of football to support Mark Noble, who’s currently a sports director.
West Ham initially had competition from Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. But the Reds went for another choice, and Spurs’ chase isn’t as strong as the one from their London rivals.
Now for the Hammers to succeed in this pursuit, they must wait and see what will be of Pinto’s future with Roma. Mais Futebol say there’s nothing decided about his future yet, as the upcoming results of the Serie A side will decide which competitions they’ll play in the next season, and that will have a major impact on his chances of staying there.
