With all the attention at AIK Solna focus on the ‘next Zlatan Ibrahimovic, as the press like to call him, Alexander Isak, it’s worth noting the Swedish club have a few other talented youngsters.
Arriving at the club in 2013, Ebenezer Ofori has become a stalwart at AIK over the past couple of seasons, and at 21 years of age, still has a lot of time to improve.
This is why, after his second full season, a few clubs around Europe are taking an interest in his services, according to Mercato 365, including Slaven Bilic’s West Ham.
The French website report that both Caen and Lorient in Ligue 1 have enquired about the player’s availability, while the Hammers, Hamburg and FC Krasnodar are also said to be following Ofori’s development.
The versatile defensive midfielder, who can also play on either side of midfield, and even at left-back if needs be, has made 101 appearances for the Swedish side since his arrival, and Mercato 365 claim a move away is expected this winter.
Whether that is to the London Stadium remains to be seen, but with the season now over in Northern Europe, Scandinavia is the ideal place to do some January shopping, as this is their pre-season window, spanning until the end of March.
Despite all this, AIK’s manager has tried to cool down speculation by explaining the club and the player were currently in contract extension talks, regardless of the interest in the player.
As of yet, however, no concrete bids for Ofori have been made.
