West Ham United have joined the race for Uruguayan midfielder Emiliano Martinez and could battle Everton for the 23-year-old’s signature.
That’s according to Uruguay Fichajes (Traspasos), who believe the Hammers have joined the Toffees in showing an interest in the FC Midtjylland midfielder.
Earlier this month we covered a report from Uruguayan journalist Rodri Vázquez, who insisted that Everton were battling Marseille for the midfielder’s signature.
He’s reportedly been impressing with the Danish side this season after initially arriving on loan before the move was made permanent in November last year.
His displays have ‘aroused interest’ in his signature and Vázquez claimed that ‘it’s almost a fact’ that he’ll be leaving the club this summer.
Everton are apparently in the mix, but West Ham can now be added to that with it explained by Uruguay Fichajes that they are ‘interested’ in the midfielder.
They, of course, could be on the hunt replacements for Declan Rice if he leaves as expected and perhaps Martinez has been added to their list of potential targets with that in mind.
That remains to be seen but the latest update in Uruguay is that West Ham are in the race for his signature with Everton either way.
