It’s now time for the Argentine media to back-up West Ham’s chase for Mateo Retegui.
In the past couple of weeks, we’ve been seeing several stories from the Italian media which said the Hammers made contact to sign the Tigre striker, and that they can make an interesting offer for him.
Now as Argentine outlet Sitio Andino writes about the 23-year-old, it’s said several European clubs got in touch to get some information on the player. And West Ham get a mention in the list of interested sides.
The website writes that the Hammers approached the player as they ‘need goals’, and points out that Gianluca Scamacca had been benched for Retegui at the Italian national team.
Retegui was born and raised in Argentina, where he played for several clubs. But since his call-up to play for Italy, which happened in the last international break, the rumours about his move to a top league only grew.
According to Sitio Andino, besides West Ham, the likes of AC Milan, AS Roma, Napoli, Lazio, Newcastle United, Atletico Madrid and Eintracht Frankfurt should all fight for him in the summer.
