West Ham United are looking at the Czech market to reshape their squad this summer and have identified SK Slavia Prague star Tomáš Chorý as a target.
The Hammers signed Tomáš Souček in 2020 and his compatriots Vladimír Coufal and Alex Král followed him to the London club.
Both Coufal and Král have left West Ham, while Souček is still at the club. Slavia Prague manager Jindřich Trpišovský has opened the door for the latter to return.
It’s unclear whether the midfielder wants to join his former club. However, Chorý’s future could be away from Slavia Prague.
West Ham keen on striker
That’s according to inFotbal.cz, who cover the Championship side’s interest and the player’s immediate future. Their title states West Ham United are a candidate to sign the striker this summer.
Tomáš Chorý joined SK Slavia Prague in 2024 and managed 37 goals and 11 assists from 78 matches. This includes 17 goals and six assists from last season.
His performances have seen several clubs show interest. This includes Nuno Espírito Santo’s side, FC Slovan Liberec, Viktoria Plzeň and Legia Warszawa.
These clubs could make a financially attractive offer and the ‘most attention is being drawn to a surprising option from England’. According to the outlet, his future decision will be in the ‘next few hours’.
Slavia’s desire to retain star
SK Slavia Prague owner Pavel Tykač recently expressed his desire to keep 31-year-old Tomáš Chorý. The squad and the coaching staff also share the same view.
“I’d love to help them open that door, but I need to know that they understand what happened. If it’s possible, I’ll fight for them,” he said.
“I’d probably be willing and ready, if it leads to some kind of result, to go to Jarda and do something I’ve probably never done before. And that is to convince him to reconsider his decision or to do something about it.”
Slavia Prague president Jaroslav Tvrdík removed the frontman from the squad after an unfortunate incident involving him and Sparta defender Asger Sorensen in the last derby.
Negotiations with Tvrdík will be decisive for Chorý’s stay at the club. If the former can’t convince him, the player could be on the move this summer.
West Ham United and other suitors are likely to keep a close on his situation.
