Wednesday’s edition of L’Equipe reports West Ham are ‘still hot’ for Amadou Onana, a Belgian midfielder who plays for Ligue 1 side Lille.

According to the French newspaper, the Hammers are ‘pushing hard’ for the signing, and the player has ‘never been so close’ to sealing a move to England.

L’Equipe go on to say that on Tuesday, Lille ‘formally confirmed’ to them that West Ham are really trying to make the signing happen this summer. So much so that the Hammers are getting close to the asking price, which is reported to be €40m.

Everton and Leicester City get a mention, but it’s David Moyes’ side which is easily pushed forward the most.

To underline the optimism in the report of a transfer happening, it’s stated Onana is ‘very close to crossing the channel’.

Lille are already looking at replacements for their player, which again suggests a transfer is on the cards, and perhaps West Ham just need another little nudge higher with their offer to find an agreement.

Onana’s stance on the transfer isn’t shared, although it would be assumed the London club would have checked that before going ahead, especially after rejections from elsewhere.
