West Ham United have been following Spartak Moscow’s Jordan Larsson, according to Sportbladet.

Operating mainly as a centre forward, he scored 15 goals and registered five assists in all competitions last season.

His form had caught the attention of VfL Wolfsburg, who were ready to pay around SEK 120m [€12m]. This figure was short of the SEK 150-200m [€15-20m] demanded by the Russian club.

The 24-year-old, however, has struggled with form and fitness this season. He has only one goal to his name and that came in his side’s Europa League defeat against Leicester City.

Larsson’s contract expires in 2023 and Spartak Moscow wanted to extend it for two or three years.

It’s claimed the two parties are unlikely to reach an agreement over a renewal and have ‘jointly opened’ the door for a sale in January for a ‘reasonable price’ of SEK 100m [€10m].

Larsson’s contract situation will come as encouragement for his suitors, which includes the Hammers.

Sportbladet say West Ham have been chasing the Sweden international since the last season, and Wolfsburg could return for him. From Italy, Fiorentina, Napoli and AC Milan are also linked to Larsson.

With both the player and Spartak Moscow open to a January sale, it’ll be interesting to see which club will be successful in securing Larsson’s signature.
