West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca finally appears to be closing in on a move to Roma after the Hammers ‘accepted’ their latest offer.
That’s according to Roma Giallorossa, who say the player is ‘ready to embrace’ his former club once again now that a deal has been struck.
They explain that Roma director of football Tiago Pinto has been in contact with Scamacca in the last few days, when the player passed through Rome, during which the final contractual points were finalised with him and his representatives.
The ‘real turning point’ on the potential transfer has been the agreement with West Ham, who are closing in on a replacement and thus open to a deal.
They have now accepted an ‘onerous loan’ which will see Roma pay an initial €3-4m for a loan deal which will included an obligation to buy him for €20-21m.
That obligation is, however, conditional on certain sporting situations such as appearances, goals and Roma making it into the Champions League.
West Ham have been convinced to do a deal though as Scamacca has been ‘pushing hard’ to return to Rome this summer and he is now set to get his wish granted.
Before announcing it, Roma have to finalise exits but they are working on that front and Scamacca should be their new centre-forward sooner rather than later.
