It seems West Ham United will have even more difficulty finding a deal with Corinthians for Wesley’s transfer.
When it was recently reported that the Brazilian club’s president Augusto Melo would travel to Europe for negotiations, it sounded like he could be taking the final steps to meet clubs in person and finally accept a bid for the 19-year-old.
However, as André Hernan now speaks to UOL, it’s explained that the Corinthians chief isn’t going with the intention of selling Wesley.
It’s well known that Melo will also watch the Champions League final. Regarding the talks for the youngster, it’s said that the president wants to sit with clubs and talk eye to eye, as they’ve only been speaking in online meetings, and see if a huge bid shows up. Otherwise he’s keeping him.
“It will be the biggest sale in Corinthians’ history. He has a bright future, the staff need the boy,” said Melo in an interview with Flow Sports Club (via CNN) this week.
We must say that when the Hammers offered €15-18m for Wesley, it looked like a decent amount, and pundits in Brazil even said his club should accept it. What happened is that the player entered great form since then, and his club seem to have got carried away with it, now getting a little over eager with their demands. That’s why it doesn’t sound very likely a deal for that requested price will happen.
Not only West Ham want to take him to the Premier League, though, as the Brazilian media recently revealed Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace interest as well.
