West Ham United are still eyeing RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner ahead of the January transfer window as he is ‘considering a change of scenery’.
That’s according to Fussball Transfers, who say Leipzig would ‘not put any obstacles’ in the striker’s way should a club make a move for him.
Werner has found himself out of the picture at Leipzig this season, with just 14 appearances in all competitions this season and 386 minutes of action in total.
That’s led to speculation that he could be allowed to move in the coming weeks, with him needing to play regularly if he is to be a part of Julian Nagelsmann’s squad for the Euros in Germany this summer.
Several Premier League sides are believed to be thinking about a deal, with West Ham named as one of those towards the end of last month.
Fussball Transfers continue that today by saying West Ham are one of the sides ‘interested in the player’ as he considers his options.
According to them Leipzig are willing to let Werner depart if they receive a ‘suitable enquiry’ and ‘initial contacts’ have been held in England over a move. They don’t make it clear if it is the clubs or the player’s agents who have held those contacts.
Either way, there is a growing sense that Werner could be on his way back to England and West Ham are very much among the clubs looking at making that happen.
