Unai Nunez has been linked with a move away from Athletic Club Bilbao for some months, with it being felt like Premier League clubs have been used in a battle against the Basque side.

Nunez has wanted more prominence at Athletic and a renewal offer which he feels matches his status, yet there hasn’t been an agreement found yet and that inevitably leads to more links to English clubs.

AS believe Athletic could benefit from financial pressures in European football this summer. Nunez has a €30m release clause and whilst it’s been claimed in the past that West Ham have wanted to pay the amount, there’s a suggestion they may think twice now.

Despite that, the Hammers are leading Premier League interest in Nunez, with it being claimed Everton, Arsenal and ‘West Ham, especially’ are keen.

All three have been following the 23 year old, and their scouts have filled notebooks with positive reports.

Depending on how the Covid-19 crisis continues, and whether Nunez and Athletic can finally agree on a renewal, West Ham may have a reasonable chance this summer.
