Last month, L’Arena reported Newcastle United are willing to make an offer for Hellas Verona’s Antonín Barák.
On December 3rd, the same newspaper explained West Ham United ‘really like’ the midfielder.
His form this season has seen him attract interest from Italy. A new report from L’Arena explains AC Milan and Inter Milan are set to ‘compete’ to acquire his services. The two clubs are joined by the Magpies and the Hammers.
Officials of the two Premier League sides have watched the 27-year-old ‘several times’. West Ham talent scouts have repeatedly seen him in action for Hellas Verona this term.
Initially, the Tyneside club came forward for the Czech Republic international. Barák has now ended up in the sights of the Hammers and they seem to be a better option in England than Newcastle, as far as L’Arena see things.
Eddie Howe’s side have struggled in the league and are in the relegation zone, managing only one league win this season. West Ham, on the other hand, are fourth in the table. They have also made it to the EFL Cup quarter-final and progressed to the knockout stages of the Europa League.
The form the Hammers have enjoyed under David Moyes this season could play a key role in giving West Ham an edge over the Magpies to sign the player.
Hellas Verona are in ‘no hurry’ to sell Barák and with several clubs interested, the ‘auction starts at €20m’.
L’Arena adds ‘no sale in sight’ in the winter market and the farewell has been postponed until the summer. However, suitors ‘can book’ Barák for June 2022, meaning a deal can be agreed in January, for the player to change clubs at the end of the season.
