As you might have imagined by the fact they are currently in a relegation battle, West Ham aren’t entirely thrilled with how things are going under David Moyes.
That’s why it isn’t surprising to see reports they have been looking around at other managers, with Hellas Verona’s Ivan Jurić on their list.
The news comes from local newspaper L’Arena in Italy, who explain West Ham became ‘concretely’ interested in the Croatian technician ‘two months ago’.
It’s stated David Sullivan likes Jurić and his ‘kick and rush’ approach to playing the game, described as ‘just spectacular enough to produce fireworks at the right time’.
The manager has allegedly ‘already received estimation signals from a distance’, as West Ham are looking for someone capable of producing ‘battling football in the rain’, in order to ‘perfectly marry the British philosophy’ of how the game is played.
Before the Covid-19 pandemic struck, Verona were eighth in Serie A, and the club’s run of nine games without defeat between December 12th and March 8th ‘convinced Sullivan and his trusted men’.
Now, ‘the idea is to convince the Split born manager to accept the Hammers’ challenge’.
However, they will face some competition from Verona themselves, as the president, Maurizio Setti, ‘will try to retain his miracle coach’, as he has ‘gone beyond all rosy expectations’ so far this season.
Not only that, but Fiorentina are also said to be interested, as there’s a feeling the current manager, Giuseppe Iachini, will only remain at the helm ‘if he manages to end the season with a triumphant ride’.
And if that wasn’t enough, Torino are also in the mix, with their owner, Urbano Cairo, becoming ‘one of the main admirers of Jurić’.
So, this means West Ham are going to be very convincing if they do want the Verona manager in their dugout when the next season starts, and they’ll preferably want that to happen in the Premier League.
First, however, we need to find out how the season ends in England.
