West Ham United were one of the sides who made a late bid for rising Midtjylland star Franculino at the end of the summer transfer window.
That’s according to Ekstra Bladet, who report that West Ham were competing with Bayern Munich for the 21-year-old.
The newspaper covers Bayern’s bid today. They explain that the German giants were eyeing the striker at the end of the summer, before their deal for Nicolas Jacksin.
They weren’t the only side who were interested in him either. Midtjylland rejected bids from across Europe, and West Ham were one of those keen.
According to their information, West Ham, Como and Villarreal put in a bid for the Guinea-Bissau international towards the end of the window. Bayern then moved after those clubs.
The Germans were even willing to pay €5m for a loan and have a purchase option worth €26m. There was even talk of making the option mandatory after a certain number of matches.
The dialogue between the two clubs never progressed though. Nor did it go anywhere with West Ham or the other suitors. That was part of the plan for Midtjylland, who signed a new deal until 2029 in December. They don’t intend to sell at this moment in time.
His performances aren’t going unnoticed, though. And with nine goals in 18 games this season already, he’s a name to keep an eye on, perhaps even in January.
