West Ham United assistant manager Paco Jémez started his spell in England with a visit to Tottenham Hotspur.

On January 15th, West Ham appointed Jémez as Nuno Espírito Santo’s assistant. The move to London allowed him to return to management for the first time since leaving UD Ibiza in October 2025.

The 55-year-old had previous opportunities to return to the bench. None of those convinced him, but then West Ham came calling. He was next to Nuno when the Hammers visited Tottenham at the weekend.

Jémez has been speaking to Spanish radio station Cadena Ser to review his first week with the Hammers. West Ham have only played one match since the Spaniard joined Nuno’s backroom staff.

That was against Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and the Hammers secured a 2-1 win.

Callum Wilson’s late goal saw West Ham snatch a crucial three points. The win didn’t help them get out of the relegation zone as they are 18th in the table, however, it saw them reduce the gap with 17th placed Nottingham Forest to five points.

On Jémez’s visit to Tottenham, he said: “I saw a pitch that blew me away. My goodness, what a pitch, what an atmosphere, everything. The experience is incredible.”

His second match with West Ham will be against Sunderland at home on Saturday. He was at UD Ibiza between November 2024 and October 2025.

Jémez is able to notice a huge difference in his life outside the pitch between Ibiza and London.

“The change is huge. I’ve gone from a place where the quality of life is spectacular, everything is within easy reach, and you’re treated like you’re from the island. And then you come here, where nobody knows you, and you have to get used to a language and many other things,” Jémez explained.
