Jean-Clair Todibo to West Ham United may not be dead, according to Wednesday’s edition of Nice-Matin.

The Nice local newspaper is reporting on interest in the central defender. It’s claimed that Juventus are thinking about the player, as they look around for potential signings to aid their Serie A title fight.

However, Juventus are said to have ‘very little liquidity’ and made a loan offer on Tuesday. That was laughed out of town, with Nice wanting €40m.

Nice-Matin say the only club to have made a ‘concrete transfer offer’ is West Ham, and they believe the Hammers could return for the Frenchman.

That’s despite them spending big to take Max Kilman from Wolves this month.

West Ham’s offer was €30m plus a further €5m in bonus payments. Not quite enough for Nice, and it’s claimed Julen Lopetegui had even spoken to the player.

When that offer was refused, they quickly turned to Kilman.

Nice-Matin say if one of Nayef Aguerd or Kurt Zouma were to be sold then West Ham could return, and it’s claimed both of those players have been offered to Nice.

Aguerd is of interest but his wages are a barrier at the moment, although discussions appear to be ongoing.

As it stands, Nice-Matin believes ‘London or Turin are the most likely destinations’ this summer.

This very much feels like there’s a deal there to be done, and perhaps even around what West Ham offered in the first place.
