Back at the start of the week, we saw Calcio Mercato giving West Ham some hope regarding signing Piotr Zielinski from Napoli.
Following the Hammers’ failed attempt to sign the player last summer, it was now said he became ‘expendable’ for the Serie A side, who would let him go if an ‘appropriate’ offer arrives in the next transfer window.
It turns out that Calcio Mercato has another story about the player today, and this time they directly mention West Ham.
The outlet recalls that the Hammers tried to sign Zielinski with €40m ‘on the plate’ last summer. Now, ‘the situation has changed’, especially because his contract with Napoli expires in 2024.
It’s said the Italian side started talks for a renewal, but they’d like to give him a pay cut. The player is unlikely to accept that, and to avoid losing him for free, the club are set to listen to offers. According to Calcio Mercato, Napoli could ‘settle’ for a ‘slightly lower figure’ than the €40m offered by West Ham.
So if the Hammers and David Moyes remain interested, this seems like the golden chance for them.
