West Ham United are ‘becoming convinced’ that sending Gianluca Scamacca to Roma on loan this season is the right transfer option for him.
That’s according to Il Messaggero, relayed by Planeta Roma, who cover the situation today as Roma director of football Tiago Pinto continues to work on signing a forward for Jose Mourinho.
They explain that Pinto is currently in Portugal to watch Roma’s clash with Braga and is planning to say there until August 2nd unless there are ‘sudden changes’ to his plans.
He is yet to secure a centre-forward despite a growing need for one, with Mourinho having made it a necessity if they are to compete for the Champions League next season.
Pinto is clear on what he can and cannot do and so is focused on players who are ‘within his means’ rather than those outside of it. West Ham’s Gianluca Scamacca is one such player.
Indeed, he has ‘significantly lower costs’ than Alvaro Morata and so Pinto is pushing to get a deal over the line.
That effort is boosted by the fact West Ham are ‘becoming convinced’ that a loan deal for the striker could be a solution for all parties.
They are starting to believe he can be revalued after a disappointing spell at the London Stadium via a loan spell in Rome and so Pinto is looking to complete the signing at zero cost or thereabouts with a right to buy included.
The key is that the Hammers thoughts on the matter seem to be changing and thus a loan deal is now looking possible for Roma.
