West Ham United are in talks with Barcelona over Martin Braithwaite but are yet to finalise a deal for the forward.
Earlier today we covered a report from Mundo Deportivo, specifically journalist Miguel Rico, who backed up claims from the end of last month that West Ham were keen.
He reported today that Quique Setién’s side have ‘advanced the negotiations’ with the Hammers over a transfer and that they would be willing to pay €20m to make it happen.
AS have now backed up those claims, confirming that Barcelona and West Ham are in contact over a deal for Braithwaite.
They report that he ‘could go’ to the Premier League for a similar price to what Barça paid to sign him from Leganés, which was €18m.
So, €2m less than Rico’s claim but certainly in the same ballpark.
AS, though, state that so far there have been no significant developments in the talks and they are yet to ‘come to fruition’ as there are still ‘issues’ to be resolved.
What those issues are isn’t mentioned, but it’s very likely it’ll have something to do with the transfer fee.
Either way, that is now two sources in Spain confirming that West Ham are keen on Braithwaite and with Barcelona keen to sell, so it would not be surprising to see this pick up pace in the coming days and weeks.
