West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca has struggled since he arrived in London from Sassuolo last summer.
He’s scored eight goals from 27 matches in all competitions this season, but the 24-year-old hasn’t featured for the Hammers in the league since recovering from a knee injury in February and was left out of the squad for the last three league matches.
Scamacca’s poor form at West Ham hasn’t put off Atalanta, however, who have identified him as the target to bolster their attack next season, according to Il Giorno.
Rasmus Højlund and Duván Zapata are two of the three strikers available at the Serie A side and the duo have been rumoured to move elsewhere after this season.
If one of them were to leave, the Italian club then plan to bring in the West Ham player in the summer.
It’s said David Moyes’ side are ‘asking for €25m’ to offload the Italy international, and taking his profile, age, experience of playing in the English and Dutch leagues into account, the report states the price quoted isn’t a lot for a striker of his ‘calibre’.
