West Ham United have joined Chelsea in the chase to sign Palmeiras youngster Luís Guilherme.
Since making his first team debut in April, the 17-year-old has made 23 appearances for them this year and has drawn attention from a few clubs.
This includes West Ham and Chelsea, and PL Brasil state the two London clubs ‘lead the way’ to sign the player.
The midfielder’s deal expires in 2025, but he’s unlikely to stay at the Brazilian club until then. The report states his agent met several European clubs last week and that includes both the Blues and David Moyes’ side.
It’s claimed West Ham and Chelsea ‘must present proposals’ to the South American club before the U17 World Cup kicks off on November 10th.
PL Brasil, who state this is their own information, say West Ham are the ‘new competitor’ to join Mauricio Pochettino’s side and other clubs in the race for Guilherme.
Last week, R7 Esportes reported Palmeiras have rejected a Chelsea offer for the teenager and have demanded a fee of more than €35m to sanction his sale.
It’s to be noted that West Ham, Chelsea or any other English club cannot bring Guilherme to the UK until he turns 18 years of age in February.
