West Ham United are one of the sides interested in a move for Chelsea forward Hakim Ziyech, with the Moroccan set to leave Stamford Bridge.
That’s according to Jeunes Footeux, who say the Hammers are one of several clubs eyeing him up as he pushes to leave.
They explain that despite a superb World Cup campaign with Morocco, Ziyech has still found himself out of Graham Potter’s plans this season.
He’s not managed a single minute of action for the last three games and that lack of consideration is the ‘straw that broke the camel’s back’.
Ziyech is ‘determined’ to leave the Blues, having already pushed for it in January, when he was close to joining PSG before an administrative error from Chelsea scuppered the move at the last minute.
He remains in contact with the French giants but also has ‘several contacts’ in the Premier League and West Ham are one of those who are ‘interested’ in him.
They’re aware that Ziyech could be allowed to leave Chelsea for a fee of around €15-20m, although a loan deal with an option to buy could even be enough for the Blues.
West Ham would presumably be able to afford either of those deals, but Ziyech may need to make a financial effort to facilitate his departure as he currently earns €7m a year at Chelsea, a figure few clubs could match.
One thing is certain, though, he will not be playing his football at Stamford Bridge next season. Whether he remains in the Premier League is yet to be decided.
