West Ham are one of several teams to have ‘sounded out’ Real Betis regarding defender Aïssa Mandi.

That’s what El Desmarque report today, stating that the centre back is one of the players who could leave the Spanish side this summer.

They explain that Mandi is currently in the final year of his contract and as a result, they are ‘considering’ a sale to avoid missing out on a fee altogether.

But the player recently swapped representatives, and while they are working on a potential new deal, they are also exploring their options.

That is why he is being ‘offered’ to several teams around Europe and their feeling is that Mandi has a ‘certain cachet on the market’.

West Ham – as well as Roma –  are one of those interested and have ‘sounded out’ Betis about a potential deal, according to what El Desmarque has been able to ascertain.

That is the limit of the information they are willing to offer at this point, that West Ham have been in contact with Betis over him.

Presumably, this contact was to ascertain how much the La Liga side would want for him, which the website don’t venture a guess at either.

However, reports elsewhere linking Liverpool to Mandi have stated the asking price is around €12m, which would surely be a palatable figure for the Hammers if they are interested.
