Genoa’s intentions to bring Maxwel Cornet back from West Ham this summer have been well covered by the Italian press. Their attempts have come across as rather hopeful and reliant on the Hammers being somewhat desperate to get rid.
Gazzetta dello Sport today report Cornet’s situation at West Ham is yet to be defined and his salary is causing issues for a Genoa return.
According to the report, he gets €3m a year after tax and this is not something Genoa can pay. As a result, the Rossoblu need help from the London club to sign the winger on a new loan deal this summer.
Patrick Vieira’s side believe that Cornet was held back by injury problems during his loan spell last season. They want to give him another opportunity and that is why they are in constant contact with West Ham over a move.
Secolo XIX report, as relayed by CalcioGenoa, Genoa are not giving up and made new contact fairly recently.
West Ham will surely prefer a permanent sale if they can get one.
