If you’re reading this, you probably know William Carvalho. Yes, that Portuguese midfielder who’s been linked to Premier League clubs for almost five years now.
In one of their last updates, newspaper O Jogo claimed that many clubs are keen on signing him, including Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool. But they said only West Brom have made official approaches so far.
And today, as they report the player can be also used in defence, the outlet claims that a new round for negotiations will be open once Sporting get through the Champions League playoffs, close to the end of the transfer window.
Newspaper Record also has a story on Carvalho today, claiming there’s now competition for West Brom from Italian sides Juventus and Fiorentina.
But it doesn’t matter whether it’s West Brom or Juve linked, the Record say the demand is €30m. It’s been hard to find a club willing to pay all of that, even though the price is being dropped from summer to summer.
Could a deadline day offer convince Sporting to sell? Let’s hope it ends before then, maybe we could all chip in to help West Brom and Tony Pulis.
