West Bromwich Albion continue looking for players in the Portuguese market, and this time, could be interested in a Sporting midfielder.
According to newspaper Record today, the Baggies are keen on signing Matheus Pereira, and have already made a bid to get him.
The report says West Brom have offered €300k to have the player on loan for a season, with other €300k to be paid in case he isn’t used enough.
But the offer hasn’t been accepted by Sporting. First because they are afraid that Pereira may be needed this season, especially because of Bruno Fernandes’ possible move to the Premier League.
Secondly, the Lions didn’t really like what was put on the table.
They actually want €1m to loan Pereira out, and plan to include a buying option of €8m in the deal.
Record says the business ‘could still advance’, but for now, it doesn’t seem very likely. Pereira spent the last season on loan at Nürnberg, where he’s made 19 appearances in Bundesliga.
