For the past couple of days, several Portuguese newspapers had been reporting West Brom’s wish to sign Matheus Pereira on a permanent deal.
Some of the outlets were taking claims from the English press which said the Baggies are looking to use their buying option and soon guarantee the transfer of the Sporting player.
Now there’s some exclusive information coming from O Jogo, and they’ve learned that things are actually a little different.
They claim West Brom are indeed very happy with Pereira’s start at the club, but are still not concerned about a permanent deal.
O Jogo says that West Brom will only get involved in the transfer market when it gets closer to the end of the year. Even because Pereira is ‘safe’ at the club with the current deal they have with the Lions.
The Brazilian joined the Baggies on a one-year deal last summer, and for him to join them permanently, a fee of €9m has to be paid, with another possible €1m in bonuses.
There are conflicting figures going around, ranging from €9m to €11m.
Pereira has made nine appearances for West Brom so far, getting four assists and one goal.
