On June 28th, A Bola reported West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City are competing each other to sign Benfica’s Filip Krovinovic on loan for the next season.

The same day, another Portuguese newspaper Record cited the Baggies as the only club from England chasing the midfielder. It was also explained his relationship with West Brom manager Slaven Bilic ‘could be decisive’.

Saturday’s edition of A Bola claims the Championship side and Benfica ‘continue to negotiate’ the Croatian’s loan deal.

A Bola even contacted Bilic, but all they got out of him was: “Of course I know Krovinovic well!”

Krovinovic was all but set to join Vitória Guimarães on a loan deal before English clubs entered the scene.

They even had an agreement in principle with Benfica, but that has now been ruled out.

Benfica have received offers from West Brom and Norwich and Krovinovic, who is not included in Bruno Lage’s plans for next season, is interested in a move to England.

At this point West Brom remain the ‘favourite’ to sign him on loan, but A Bola states there are still other possibilities.
