Manchester City star Savinho has promised he and his fellow Brazilians will be doing everything to get Neymar to the next World Cup.

The forward has been speaking to journalist Fred Caldeira after this week’s Champions League win over Club Brugge, in which he proved to be the star man for Pep Guardiola’s side.

He was introduced halfway through the game and made a telling difference, scoring the first Champions League goal of his career and providing the home side with the impetus to turn the tie around.

The Manchester City man is not the headline grabber when it comes to Brazilians this week. Though, despite his impressive performance.

That goes to Neymar, who has sent Brazilian football into a frenzy as he is on his way back to his boyhood club Santos.

The winger has cancelled his deal with Al-Hilal and will be making the return to Brazil from Saudi Arabia in the coming days.

Both him and Santos have been getting excited about the prospect on social media, with numerous posts already building up anticipation for his homecoming.

Neymar’s plan is to get back to full fitness, starring for Santos and into the Brazil squad for one last time at the 2026 World Cup. And Savinho, who will be hoping to be in the squad himself if he can continue to impress at Manchester City, admits he and the rest of the group will be doing their utmost to make that happen.

“Man, every day I watch his and Santos’ stories to see if he has already announced it,” he said when asked about Neymar.

“I’m talking to my family that I’m going to watch Santos again, it’s very, very good. I’m happy, man, I think Neymar needs to play. He is our guy from the National Team. I hope he comes back and shines there in Brazil, that he can be in the National Team with us too.

“I just saw that he said it could be one of his last World Cups, so we’re going to give our lives for him.”
