With the 2-1 loss to Chelsea last night, Aston Villa failed to get a good result in London and therefore are a point away from the relegation zone.

The result at Stamford Bridge kept Dean Smith’s side in the 15th position, on the same points as Brighton and Southampton.

Despite that, there’s now big worry at the club right now, at least as far as Douglas Luiz is concerned.

The midfielder spoke to the Brazilian media after the match, and made his confidence clear.

“I think we’re projecting game by game. Aston Villa are a great club, a club with big history. But we also have to see that we’ve just been promoted from the Championship to the Premier League. And the Premier League is much harder than the Championship. So we have to take it game by game,” Douglas Luiz told ESPN Brasil.

“We have to be humble, we have to work hard. Because surely this season we’ll be able to stay up, which is the biggest goal. And we’ll be happy.”

Aston Villa have some hard tasks in early December. They hosting Leicester City at the weekend, and then travel to Sheffield to play the Blades. After the two tough games, comes the League Cup challenge against Liverpool at home.
