There is a distinct possibility Santiago Giménez could leave Feyenoord in the January transfer window, with Tottenham continuing to be linked to the striker.
That’s according to Roy Makaay, who believes it is inevitable that the Mexican will leave the Dutch club at some point and that could be sooner rather than later.
Giménez has started this season where he left off last year, with 10 goals and two assists in seven games in the Eredivisie to his name so far.
He’s very much one of the rising stars of European football and that has seen him linked with a number of clubs on a consistent basis.
He was linked with Tottenham throughout the summer as they looked for a replacement for Harry Kane and has continued to be named as a target for them since the end of the window.
Indeed, it was already made clear at the end of September that they are a club to keep an eye on moving forwards when it comes to the striker.
Makaay believes a big move could be on the way as early as January, although he stopped short of naming Tottenham as a potential destination.
“I hope they succeed, but if he continues to develop like this, he will already be gone during the winter break,” he said.
“That boy is 22, is developing great, he is a Spanish-speaking player. I think clubs will call about that during the winter break, but maybe Feyenoord won’t answer. We’ll see.”
