Jorginho featured regularly for Chelsea during Frank Lampard’s first season as manager at Stamford Bridge.

The midfielder made 31 league appearances [27 starts] and had seven more starts in the Champions League last campaign.

He has struggled to replicate those figures this campaign as the 29-year-old has been in and out of the Blues’ starting lineup, making only seven starts in the league.

Jorginho made his first league appearance in more than a month against West Ham United on December 21st. Since then, he made two more appearances before Lampard dropped him to the bench again, in Chelsea’s defeat to Manchester City.

The Brazil-born Italy international’s agent insisted last month his client had a ‘great year’, both with club and country.

Jorginho’s representative João Santos has given an interview to TuttoMercatoWeb, discussing the former Napoli man.

“Chelsea have to play on several fronts. Jorginho is one of the best in the team,” the agent said.

When further quizzed whether Jorginho will renew, Santos explained: “In the summer we’ll evaluate. We will speak with the English club and see if we renew and continue together.”

It’s not clear the ‘continue together’ context is for beyond this season or in relation to the duration left on Jorginho’s current deal.
