Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche has told the German media that they were interested in signing Michael Olise before his transfer to Crystal Palace.
The 22-year-old signed for Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace during the last transfer window for around €60m, presenting a huge profit for Oliver Glasner’s side.
Bild have covered comments Krösche made to Sky90 when asked about their interest in Olise when the Frenchman was playing for Reading. The Frankfurt director explained the player had a release clause in his Reading contract, but the German side were unable to pay the amount.
“He had an exit clause at the time. I think it was €8m or €9m. But we didn’t have the money to pay at the time. He’s a very, very good player,” said Krösche.
Olise has hit the ground running since his transfer from Crystal Palace to Munich, scoring two goals and providing two assists in the last Bundesliga game against Werder Bremen.
The France international has also carried this form into the Champions League after scoring two goals on his debut in the competition against Dinamo Zagreb.
His performances with Crystal Palace and Bayern Munich finally earned him a call up to the French national team and he made his competitive debut for his country during the recent Nation League games.
