West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek has insisted he’d be happy to go for a beer with Everton manager David Moyes, even if he’s annoyed about his goal at the weekend.

IDNES cover comments from the West Ham man today after he was awarded the Czech footballer of the year award before the upcoming international break.

He was the star man for West Ham again over the weekend, bagging the opening goal with a superb low curling effort to hand his side a 1-0 lead away to Everton.

It was another brilliantly taken goal from the Czech midfielder, who has made scoring against Everton something of a speciality in recent years and has 39 goals and 12 assists in 237 games for West Ham to date.

This strike had the added bonus of being against his former manager in Moyes, who left West Ham last summer and returned to Everton in January.

Soucek was a key part of the Scot’s success at the London Stadium, managing 32 goals and 11 assists in 207 games under his leadership.

The pair were seen warmly embracing after the match, sharing a laugh and a joke about his goal as Moyes talked briefly to him and some of his other, former charges. Soucek has now been asked about their relationship and admits he’d be happy to go for a beer anytime.

“Very pleasant, in the end for both of us,” he said when asked about the reunion.

“I scored a goal, and I can imagine how crazy he was, but they equalised in the 90th minute, and I was the one who went crazy. We were both happy and a little angry at the end.

“We had a great trip together to West Ham; he brought me there and I thank him very much for that. We have a good relationship, and I think that whenever we meet, we can easily go for a beer.”
