Manchester City are owned by the City Football Group [CFG], part of a group including Troyes and others.

Troyes agreed a deal with Fluminense for Metinho in 2021 and have been sending him on loan since the summer of 2022.

The French club let the midfielder join FC Basel on loan in January, and the latter are keen on extending his stay. That’s according to Basel sporting director Daniel Stucki, and he confirmed this during an interview with Blick.

He says the Swiss club are in discussion with Manchester City to buy the 22-year-old this summer. The director also insists the Brazilian and his camp are keen on extending their spell at Basel.

“We are arguing with Manchester City about the transfer fee, they are demanding something we don’t want to pay. He absolutely wants to stay here and knows it would be good for him,” he said.

The report states the Swiss club or the City Football Group are expected to soften their stance on Metinho.

Blick report Manchester City have placed Metinho at Troyes, but that isn’t’ the case.

The player isn’t contracted to the Premier League side, and they have no agreement in place with Troyes for his future transfer. It looks like Stucki is arguing with Manchester City’s owners instead of the English club.
